


Upper Hutt Repair Café (est. 2019) helps with household items needing repair — small electricals, tools, toys, furniture and more. With the help of skilled, friendly volunteers, you’ll receive practical advice and assistance. You can repair it yourself with guidance, or have it repaired with your assistance. Choosing repair over replacement reduces waste and saves buying new.
Aside from any parts required (which we recommend you purchase yourself), the only cost is a donation of your choosing.
Our volunteers bring wide-ranging skills and a shared passion for sustainability, waste reduction and a circular economy, and we’re happy to look at most things. If we can’t repair your item, we’ll help you find a sustainable next step — whether that’s a professional repairer, upcycling or disposal.

The Upper Hutt Repair Café is a volunteer group that organizes events where neighbours help neighbours learn how to repair. Our events are held at the Baptist Church on the corner of Fergusson Drive and Milton Street, Trentham, Upper Hutt
What do we repair?Anything that you can physically carry, such as electrical items, sewing machines, tables, chairs, bicycles for maintenance, mending and sewing, jewellery repairs and ceramics. Upper Hutt Repair Cafe Trust was nominated in the Heritage & Environment Category.

UHRCT was awarded Runner-Up in Category for our work supporting Repair, Re-use and Recycling in the Upper Hutt community through our Repair Cafe Events, run every two months and providing ways to learn about repair, become engaged and to have experts assist with repair of household items of almost every type.

| We are looking for fixers and volunteers of all kinds! If you enjoy repairing things and helping others learn how, we invite you to join us as a volunteer fixer at the Repair Café. Your repair skills in fixing household items such as computers, electronics, small appliances, small furniture, clothes, jewellery, books, bikes and more, are all welcome. We are also looking for volunteers to provide general support at our events or behind the scenes. Tasks to help with include event set-up, refreshments, visitor registration and guides, graphic design, communication and marketing, photography/video, etc. We’d love you to join our volunteer community. Your skills and drive to make repairs and/or help others learn how to repair are invaluable assets. |
